One of my favorite music groups, Parachute is about to release their third album on August 13th and after a few skeptical songs, I have to say, I can’t wait to get my hands on “Overnight.”
The boys; Will Anderson, Kit French, Nate McFarland, Alex Hargrave, and Johnny Stubblefield have been hard at work on their third studio album, following “Losing Sleep” and “The Way It Was” and it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. I’ll admit, I was among the “haters” of their first single, “Hearts Go Crazy” and I was even more skeptical after they released their second taste to the album, “Can’t Help.” I was praying I wouldn’t have another All American Rejects moment on my hands – don’t even get me started on the complete sellouts they became with “Gives Me Hell.” If you weren’t a fan from their first cd which I got for $5 at Warped Tour way back in the day, then I don’t even want to hear from you on this subject. That album was pure genius.
Anyway, I digress. Back to Parachute. I was worried with all the techno sounds emitting from my headphones. Where was the beautiful violins from “You and Me” (maybe my favorite song ever) or the movie-trailer-worthy “American Secrets”? But then I pre-ordered the album and got the genius behind “Hurricane.” I probably listened to that song on repeat through ten sittings before I stopped it. This was the Parachute that I remembered and loved, albeit with a slightly different sound.
Since then, I’ve been able to preview a few of their other songs “Overnight” / “Drive You Home” / “Didn’t See It Coming“. All different from their other albums, yet somehow still kind of the same. Just the way a good band grows and changes.
So, basically what I’m saying to all of you – go preorder the new album and you can thank me later as you’re rocking out to it in dance parties in your car, or house if you are lame and don’t dance in your cars.
